silentfp Top quality, a brilliant singer casually chucking out gems across all the styles. Seemingly effortless and totally engrossing from start to finish. Favorite track: Too Soon You're Old.

Nathan Goode Certainly some gems on this one; it's not just the cover of Trade Winds that evokes a more street-wise Randy Crawford. Too Soon You're Old has a particularly urban cool. A couple of oddities at the end of the album, though - I can't imagine Marvin Gaye going for that version of What's Goin On in his worst nightmares. Favorite track: Too Soon You're Old.

Daniele Cassandro Seriously. This stuff is wonderful. Penny Goodwin is a stellar vocalist and every single cut on this album is a delight. I couldn't be a happier subscriber. Favorite track: Lady Day & John Coltrane.

Penny Goodwin grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin singing in church with Al Jarreau, doing weddings, talent competitions and bar mitzvahs. When she left school she started singing in popular mob run clubs such as Alfie's, Sardino's, and King's Four graduating to clubs in Chicago and Caesar's Palace in Vegas. Despite her huge talent only this one studio LP exists, a mix of covers by Marvin Gaye, Gill Scott Heron plus original songs by herself and manager Sy Lefco. The LP also featuring strings by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and jazz guitar legend Phil Upchurch. One of the great american jazz vocal LP's by Milwaukee's unsung queen of jazz.

Greg Foat has those moments when heart, colour, emotion, silence and sound are just in complete alignment. That kind of harmony always hits home for me as it just creates a super warm and loving vibration. Antonio’s Theme for example creates such a moment for me.
